Albany's Sam Rowley has won the StatSheet America East Player of the Week award for the week ending January 14th. StatSheet's America East Freshman of the Week is Jameel Warney from Stony Brook. And last but not least, Marcus Rouse from Stony Brook has won StatSheet's America East 6th Man of the Week.
Rowley was the best in the America East in rebounding (13.0 per game). He also had respectable numbers with 15.5 points per game and 70% shooting. The Albany sophomore put these numbers up in wins against Binghamton and Maine.
Rowley topped all scoring and rebounding for the Great Danes with 21 points and 13 rebounds in a 71-59 win over Binghamton. He followed that up with 10 points and 13 rebounds in a 76-63 win over Maine.
This is the first StatSheet America East Player of the Week honor for Sam Rowley. The runner-up this week is Clancy Rugg, a junior from Vermont. Honorable mention goes to our own Dom Morris.
StatSheet America East Freshman of the Week: Stony Brook's Jameel Warney
Jameel Warney averaged 29 minutes while starting both games for Stony Brook. His averages in rebounding (7.0 per game), blocked shots (2.5 per game), and free throws (4.0 per game) led all America East freshmen. In a 62-37 waxing of Binghamton, Warney led all scoring for the Seawolves with 13 points and all rebounding with 8. Following that in a 73-59 win against Hartford, he led all scoring with 17 points and also put up 2 blocked shots.
Jameel Warney has won the StatSheet America East Freshman of the Week an astounding 3 times. The runner-up is our own John Papale. Honorable mention goes to our own Maurice Watson Jr..
StatSheet America East 6th Man of the Week: Stony Brook's Marcus Rouse
Marcus Rouse, a 6-1 Senior guard, averaged 20 minutes over the two games for the Seawolves. In the win over Binghamton, Rouse added 12 points and 7 rebounds. After that, in the win over Hartford, he racked up 3 points and 3 rebounds.
This is the first StatSheet America East 6th Man of the Week honor for Marcus Rouse. Leonard Hayes, a senior guard from Stony Brook, is runner up. Wes Cole, a sophomore guard from Hartford, earns honorable mention. Boston University has yet to win the StatSheet America East Player of the Week award this season.
