Maurice Watson Jr. Wins the StatSheet America East Freshman of the Week - December 31st, 2012

Stony Brook's Dave Coley has been selected as the StatSheet America East Player of the Week for the week ending December 31st. Maurice Watson Jr. has earned StatSheet's America East Freshman of the Week. And finally, Malik Thomas has taken StatSheet's America East 6th Man of the Week. Coley registered big numbers in rebounding (6 per game), assists (3 per game), and shooting (60%). The Stony Brook junior played well for the Seawolves in a loss to Seton Hall.

This is the first StatSheet America East Player of the Week award for Dave Coley. However, he has received an honorable mention. The runner-up this week is Maine sophomore Justin Edwards. Honorable mention goes to Albany senior Jacob Iati. The highest ranking player from Boston University was Dom Morris who finished ninth.

StatSheet America East Freshman of the Week: Boston University's Maurice Watson Jr.

Maurice Watson Jr. played an average of 33 minutes starting both games for Boston University. He was number one among all America East freshmen in assists (3.5 per game). In a 64-48 loss to Belmont, Watson Jr. led the Terriers in scoring with 11 points and added 4 assists. Following that in a massive 71-44 win over Howard, he totaled 71% shooting and 3 steals.

This marks the first time this season that Maurice Watson Jr. has won the StatSheet America East Freshman of the Week. Evan Cooper from Hartford gets runner-up. Our own Nathan Dieudonne receives honorable mention.

StatSheet America East 6th Man of the Week: Boston University's Malik Thomas

Sophomore Malik Thomas, a 6-7 guard/forward, played an average of 20 minutes over the two games for the Terriers. In the loss to Belmont, Thomas led all Terriers in rebounding with 7 and contributed 3 steals. After that, in the win against Howard, he racked up 7 rebounds and 71% shooting.

This is the second StatSheet America East 6th Man of the Week win for Malik Thomas. Luke Devlin, a junior forward from Albany, is the runner up. Clancy Rugg, a junior forward from Vermont, receives honorable mention. Boston University has yet to win StatSheet America East Player of the Week.
